My Samsung Galaxy S7 for Seniors Updates
A few updates to my book, My Samsung Galaxy S7 for Seniors, based on recent changes from Samsung.
First, all the problems with exploding batteries do not affect the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge. The battery problems appear to be limited to the Note 7, which is a totally different (and larger) phone. So if you have a Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, don’t worry!
Second, Samsung has made some updates to the S7’s operating system and functionality, particularly in regards to the Always On Display. If you open the Settings screen, select Quick Settings, then select Display, scroll down and select Always On Display. Tap Layouts and you’ll see the changes. There are several new screen layouts you can choose from, including one that lets you display a photo on your screen when your phone is sleeping and another that. The Always On Display will also display information about currently playing songs from music apps. And the Always On Display now uses less battery power than before.
While adding these enhancements, Samsung also removed the option to put a color graphic behind the Always On Display info. Hate to see that go, but overall I think the changes are for the good.
